Default Promotor of Harley or not???

What's your opinion on the idea of Evel Knievel being one of the better promotors of Harley.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOR8y...eature=related

I think the salesman who sold me my bike is a better one.

I was a big Evel fan, though I never thought of him as a HD promoter.

Evil was all about selling himself, not Harley's.

I never got the impression that he was promoting Harleys or was any kind of a spokesman for Harley.

Pretty much my thoughts also. I didn't see him as a pitchman for Harley. Reason why I started this thread is because of a bullsheet topic on Evel and the person I had the bull session with made the statement that Kneivel helped out Harley in there lean years with sales. I don't recall Harley ever putting his face on any of there advertisments. I could be wrong about that but I had to ask.

Agreed, Evil never even wore a Harley patch on his clothes and his bikes didn't have any Harley logos on them. The MOCO didn't recognise him in any advertising that they did either. No Promo going on, on either side, as far as I can remember.

Not a big E.K. fan. Don't dislike him but don't idolize him either. Seemed like kind of a dick. Did a lot of stupid stuff.

Default Evel played his part...

I'm not sure I'd be any more likely to ride an HD based on what Evel said or did one way or the other. But there's no doubt that Evel played a bit part in the ongoing legacy that is the HD lifestyle. I bet more folks know what brand bike Evel rode versus the number of folks that know the brand bike that Travis Pastrana rides...IMHO.

I think both HD and Evel indirectly promoted each other. If you watch the video you will see in one scene that he does have the 1 logo on his suit.
