A few months ago I was in Slidell, LA at a place called Jandy's.
While I was there, a LEO purchased a Novelty helmet.
Asked him what the chances were of getting popped.
No surprise, if you're stopped for something else, the helmet issue may be added on.
Otherwise...just be cool. YMMV

Sigh. It must be really nice to be a cop in a jurisdiction where something like this rates attention. In my little corner of the world we're thrilled when no one's shooting at each other or us, and drug sales are at a minimum.
