Video Ride report. Sweden to Scotland. Part Two
Hi,
This is part two from the trip that my daughter and I made in August 2007.
Part one can you find here: UK Trip Part one
Anyway, here's the video; UK Trip Part Two
Sorry about the long download time for watching. But I'm constantly trying to find a better solution for posting videos. (If you look closely, there is a Text "Tiny" indicating that there is a tiny version of the video...)
I'm working on my web page as well. But since I'm not skilled enough it takes some time to get it right, or at least not bad...
I think that you have to have QuickTime Player installed.
It can be downloaded here; http://www.apple.com/se/quicktime/download/

Man it looked like some of those tiny roads were a bit scary... I kept on expecting to see a car in your lane when you went around one of those tight little turns!
Nice video you made and nice editing. Did you use a normal digital camera on a ram mount or did you have an actual video camera filming everything? I'm interested in your setup because i'm going to make some vids this years of some of my road trips... i'm trying to figure out what techniques work the best.
Thanks, Ralph

Thanks Ralph,
I'm using a Canon MVX460 camcorder on an RAM-mount. I also have tried a couple of helmet cams but have not yet found a working solution.
The Canon was choosed because of the DV in connector. Thats needed for attaching a analog device, like a helmet cam. So far I've been filming on DV tapes. But I'll try to film on SD cards to see if it will be less sensitiv to vibrations...
Anyway, the most appretiated thing is that I managed to get a DC to AC inverter that works with the charger so I always can have the cam on and ready (it needs 8.4 volts, and will not work with 9 volts!). BTW I also can charge the iPod and cell phone with the inverter!
The small roads you classed as 'scary' is not the smallest we encountered. As you'll see in later episodes. But it always looks 'tighter' on the video than in real life since one have a much broader and longer view of sight (don't know if this is proper english, but hope that you understand me anyway...).

Your english was great.. I understood everything. I'm also thinking of hooking up something for my GPS unit to plug into. I haven't researched but i was thinking that i could hook into the battery tender (battery buddy) thing that was stock on my bike. Or maybe I'll have to use an accesory cable.
Oh well.. i look forward to more of your vids!
Take care, Ralph

I hooked up my Garmin to a cable under the speedometer console. That way I got it via the key, i.e. the key breaks the current. I used a small 'current thief' (no idea of the english term for it) that embraces the cable and accept male connector so it's easy to remove, if needed.
I used the garmin MC cable with an speaker outlet and connects it to my ear plugs
