Know of 3 Sportsters that went the Frankenstein route with no regrets .. Even got a pic of one of them .. We ride often ..

if money is tight, I would check CL, there was a Sporty with a FrankenKit on it for months (near Daytona?),
rip it off, replace bearings, throw it on yours, sell the old Sporty to buddy, call it a day.
usually always one on there, but did not see one just now, on a quick search.
if money is not tight, ask him to go ride a Freewheeler. will keep the value over the years.
