I talked to the Lehman rep. at Americade last year and asked if Lehman would be going to the IRS for the 2012 TriGlide model. I got a reply from him telling me how much safer the straight axel is. So my husband & I stood there thinking, "so why are all the trike companies going to IRS?" Never told hwim I already owned a 2007 Roadsmith with IRS.

Anyway in Oct. I traded in my 2007 Roadsmith Sportster for a 2011 Roadsmith UC Limited.
In my honest opinion the companies making the IRS can charge more money for them. As a example Motortrike has made one as well, its $1000.00 more then the solid rear axle setup they also sell. Additionally any thing that moves will need adjustment and possible parts replacement. Depending on how long you own it, you will have to add other costs on top of your purchase. The solid rear end setup has been proven to be durable and reliable.

I know after you read this one thing will come to mind, anything man made will eventually break. Its inevitable... just sayin

Default Conversion

I really like my Motortrike kit. But I think the more important consideration is the competence of the installer.

My 1954 Rigid frame didn't have nearly as many moving parts as my Ultra, and the frame was very durable, too bad I wasn't as durable!!

I have a 2009 Ultra that will be converted using the Champion Kit. I like their independent suspension. I will be ordering the kit the second week of April and have the bike back by the end of May. My dealer said there is a 5 week delivery time and 3 days to convert. The price is 14,900 out the door and I keep all my old parts.

I have heard that this is high but it was a quote from a Champion Dealer.

The TriGlide was 32,000 and we got 14,500 trade in for the '07 Streetglide. about 3,000 difference and we now have a two year warranty on the whole thing instead of just on the conversion. Also have a 103 instead of the 96".

Just a thought.

I did almost the EXACT same thing for the same reasons. I had a 2009 Ultra Classic for the trade. I purchased a 2012 Triglide on Dec. 30, 2011 and got another $1,500 off, as the dealer didn't want to carry the inventory into the new year. I couldn't be happier!
