Temperature with lowers off thread

Very interesting.
I have recently removed my lower fairing sliding deflectors and directed the upper fairing wind deflectors towards the engine. This has a cooling effect BUT my problem is "sitting-still" heat---when I'm at a crawling pace or not moving at all. The EITMS kicking in seems to be the only near-solution at this point.

EITMS kicks in almost every stop on ours since the temps have been in the 80's.
One thing Ive noticed about my 07 and the Tri is the difference in warmup times. A few blocks down the road and the Tri has warmed up and settled into its idle...the 07 takes 3-4 times as long to warm up and settle down.

Will removing the lowered cool things down some, yes. Some of the cooling may be seen in oil temp but most of the difference will be seen in the temp of the rear cyl. With the lowers off the rear cyl temp should drop upwards of 50 degrees as measured at the base of the spark plug. Myself, I'm with Jim & my dad I'll leave mine on.

My goal was to get my 2010 Tri idling in traffic on those high 80's, mid 90's days without the EIMTS kicking in. That thing don't kick in to around 285 degrees, to hot for my piece of mind!
Mine does not kick in now, no watching the temp gauge or ambient air. If it's not kicking in I know it is below 285 and just forget about it now that I have got the right set of mods to cool it down.
I would be concerned about the EITMS kicking in all the time especially if you are in that type of riding situation a lot. Harley's little bone they threw us to prevent heat related failure but I just don't trust it.
