Default Tri-Glide fuel mileage

What kind of fuel mileage should I be seeing on my Trike? I have run three tanks of gas out and only getting about 30 miles to the gallon. Manual says I should be gettin much more than that. Thought I would check with other owners. Is this going to be normal MPG or should I see the dealer?

We were getting around 27mpg. It has gotten better with break-in, but still not over 30.

Don't have a TG but I my mileage really went down after my conversion.

My city is about 33 and hwy is about 40

Note**. I am running Andrews cams, Rinehart duals and I've geared her down for easier take off and better bottom end pull and I do my own SERT Dyno.

A friend is getting 34mpg on a 2009 Ultra, not a trike. This was after the stage 1 was performed. I think he got the wrong download. I was just under 48 mpg until my conversion. Filled up yesterday, 4.9 gallons in 181 miles. 36.9 mpg with a champion conversion.
I have not done a stage 1 yet. I am not sure if I ever will?
I know the motor is bigger on the Tri-Glide but mileage shouldn't be that much worse?
Hope it gets better after break in.

Mr. Wizard, your mileage is pretty good compared to most with engine work. I am very happy with my mileage.

Brian it's really a stock 96 with the exceptions I noted above.

But, I do my own Dyno testing and tweak the ECM. I got 49.9 hwy with the Ultra before lowering the gear ratio and it would pull the front end or smoke the tire when hitting a hard second shift.

I do have a 103 like the TG but it is a SE Fatboy. Mixed mileage on it is 45 with my Dyno and Rinehart's.

Personally I think the 103 is the best little motor HD ever put out and am happy it is in the Tri's.

The first fill up for me netted me 34 mpg with mixed riding. I believe it will get better. My 06 Ultra was getting 46 mpg with a SE BB kit but it was several hundred pounds lighter than my Tri Glide.

I average around town 38 to 42mpg depending on how Im riding and which gas station I get gas from. I have gotten as much as 45mpg running I80 in Wyoming last year doing 75-80mph. The gas was 93 octane with NO ethenol.

I think it depends on how much ethenol is added, which can be up to 10% added to the mix will effect your mileage. Also since this chemical "gas" formula they use will deteriorate pretty fast, the quality of the fuel then goes down. Which can translate to less mpg and less power for the engine to make. I use high octane all the time which Im sure most people who drive they cars dont, so the fuel sits longer before being replaced with fresh fuel in the tank

Im not an engineer, this is just my 2cents of thinking

My hubby said we averaged about 33 MPG today riding mostly highway - in Texas that can be 70mph or above...

We had a mixture of riding; through Houston; open highways and a great day with no wind...

Some of our previous riding (very windy/very cold) mileage got down to 26 MPG...

But, we love to ride and gas is much cheaper compared to the same time last year - we were paying over $4/gal in many areas throughout the U.S.

Oh, noticed Diesel was $1.899 at one of our stops today (Texas) - last year we saw some close to or over $5/gal...

I wish I had the 103. I like the part about pulling the front tire off the ground. I had the normal stage 1 performed on my 07. My 08 would eat it up
with the only upgrade of Rush Slip ons. Better mileage too.

Average mileage on my 07 FLHX DFT conversion last year for 3000 miles was 35 mpg. Engine is bone stock, except for Rush slip-ons. That's all 2-up riding with about 400 lbs of rider and passenger.
