Trailer Tire Pressure

I have a small cargo trailer with 570X8 tires and run 25psi in them. I would say that's a good starting point. If you have alot of weight in your trailer I would increase the pressure accordingly. A good way to check for proper pressure in your tires is: get a bottle of white liquid shoe polish and run an even stripe across the tread on both tires and take it for a ride. Check the wear pattern on the stripe and adjust the pressure accordingly.

Thank you!
I felt that was about right also because the trailer is spring suspension. We also live 12 miles from asphalt on a very nasty gravel road so will probably have to run lower air on the gravel road and then readjust once we get to the highway. The trailer sure pulls good. We are going on a 3500 mile trip the second week of September. I can't wait!!! I am used to pulling a 53' cattle pot so this little thing is going to be different but much more enjoyable.

My trailer also has a leaf spring suspension and pulls like a dream. I've had this trailer since 2004. I'll try to post a pic soon. It's been all across Canada and out to Sturgis SD two times (1,800 miles one way) and never had a problem. Always carry a spare tire and don't forget the lug wrench! Just try to keep your weight balanced out in the trailer.

I've tried 22psi and bumped it up to 25psi. It seems the pressure will vary due to the weight in the trailer. I found that with the 22psi on my 5,000 mile trip out west that the tires had excessive wear on the outer tread indicating too low of a psi. So it seems there is no "one size fits all" so to speak for the psi in 8" trailer tires. Just my observation.
