Chop - thanks for the tip on the guard. I'll put guard on back burner for now, but with our setup nothing is permanent, and making new brackets to accommodate an engine guard shouldn't be too much trouble if I go down that path.
I finished welding my fender extension this week. Not that prettiest welds (first time welding), but it'll hold. I've been busy past couple days cleaning them up and prepping the 'new' fender for body filler where needed, and filling unneeded holes. All in all the new fender looks good as far as shape.
AFMM3 - my color scheme I'm probably going with will be a duo-glide scheme of birch white and skyline blue, or as close as possible. I don't plan on doing it myself, much as I'd want to. There's a good shop in town that works closely with a local indy guy, whom he highly recommends. They warranty their jobs, and will do a good job as well. I'm still a few weeks away from the paint shop, though. I need to get the rear fender just the way it needs to be, and fill in a couple holes on the front fender, and sand down my tank and prime everything.
I still need to work out my rear brake line, which from reading here, shouldn't be too much of a challenge.
I bought some electra-glide emblems to stick on the front, but the studs don't match my fender holes for the emblems, so need to work that out as well, if I decide to stick some emblems on there. AFMM3 mentioned weeks ago that my bike is looking like an early 70s FLH so decided to give her that theme for emblems, although the paint scheme won't match the year.
I can see the light at the end of the tunnel with this and hoping it will be finished by end of March. It will be ridable in a couple weeks once I prime my tins and get the brake line installed. My indy is going to help me measure my clutch and front brake lines so I can clean that up.
I found a road king shield on ebay to get the metal straps from. The plastic is in poor shape so will be replaced, but I like the height of it and the fitment works well with the heritage classic mount.
I posted some pics on photo bucket the other day
