I used a variation of your method. Went on easy yesterday eve. Now that my new to me bike is road ready time to ride and some mods. For now not going with the FL set up on this one. Going to go through the set of American elites I just threw on. What I ended up doing is removing the cross support from the mufflers, it was in the way of the swing arm dropping past the pipes, disconnected the shocks at the lower mount and zip tied them up out the way. I was able to get the wheel in place and lift and lower the swing arm and everything was a breeze after. I've changed the rear wheel a bunch of times on my street bob. It's just every time I do it I'm stubborn about leaving as much together as possible and it becomes a fight with the 17" dyna wheel, patience and removing four extra nuts made it much easier and faster
. The sixteen rear is a little easier on my SB with the MU85 (140?) Sometimes getting a perspective from someone else is good for me. Thanks for the detailed post.
