My plan is to take it back to where I had it.
It was here;
Then I went to this;
And it came back home like this;

fskitch, that is beautiful! Nice job.

fskitch - That is a transformation! Beautiful front end. Those spot lights really pop. The seat rail adds so much class and looks like it belongs there. Never noticed the side cover stickers before. I need to get the chrome lower belt guard for myself along with some long stem round mirrors.
How does the front end feel? Sometimes the tree bearings need tweaking to get the feel right.
ackman - I think I like the blue picture the most, especially if the saddlebags were painted to match. Of course I like the fatter front fender, that may cause my preference.
BTW - I have a Mustang seat, exactly like the one kskitch is using, that I could let go because it is not white. I put it back on my bike one time but could no longer stand a black seat on my bike. Let me know if you are interested.

Thanks guys.
That axle took a long week to get here-as soon as I got home at 4:45pm I nearly stripped the rotor screws to get things together and off the jack before it was dark. Took a test run up and down the street-felt tight. Then took it out where I could swerve a bit and get into 6th gear. SOLID! Having payed close attention to those that have advised and having the service manual for the softail payed off.
AFMM3-needless to say the front feels right!
ackman-I prefer the blue bike as well. Front fender is my preference and aren't those shovel bags? Look great on your bike!

I had street glide air shocks on my bike before but the geometry isn't quite correct on the dyna's so the FLD shocks along with the new softail front end with progressive spring upgrade make for a much better ride.
I put the street glide shocks on my wifes sportster and am looking into adapting an FLS front to her bike along with a softail slim front fender (minus the auxiliary light bar). I know the fat bob front would have worked, so we'll see about a sportster slim (Fat?) Got to get her a mustang seat as well-the stock seat is like sitting on a cinder block.
I studied the sportster section at length and I can't seem to find much info about adapting an FL front to a rubber mount sportster so this may be impossible or challenging to say the least. If any of you guys have experience with this -I'm all ears!

I have the recipe to transform an 06 plus dyna to FLS front end fresh in my head, when I have time maybe I should post in one spot? There was
some
trial and error even with my 1000 questions. Once I got it all put together to the point of setting fall away the only issue was the front axle-I should have known better but it just kinda went over my head.

I would just through the Fat Bob front end that you already have on her Sportster. I did it on my kids Nighster and it was a big improvement in handling. Don't go bragging in the Sportster section about doing it though, they will fully ridicule you. They did it to me stating that "Sportsters are supposed to be skinny, don't you know that!"

I agree with you all on the direction it needs to go, I prefer the full front fender as well. Fortunately I still have it and enough paint to take it back there. Regarding the bags, they are an accessory for early Sportster's from my understanding. They are similar in design to the shovel bags but smaller.

fskitch, bike looks great.
ackman, your OG bike is where you need to go back to, the guy that bought the bike from you had no vision.
I guess if I want to stick around in here I better start my front end conversion at some point. I think with the batwing I want to keep, I'll be sticking more to the FLT touring style from the early 80's, hopefully without all the ugliness it had.
