There seemed to be some interest in the Fat Bob trees supporting a Softail lightbar. Here is a better picture. The bottom mount of the lightbar needed about 1/32 inch ground off to make it fit. The upper mount has a threaded nut welded to it. I retapped them to accept the Kuryakin bolt. The bolts were later cut flush. Washers were added or deleted to adjust the windshield mounts in and out and finished off with crown nuts.

Nice, wish I would have though of that. Are you planning on putting the tins on it or running it bare?

Unfortunately, I know of no tins or cow bells that would fit a Fat Bob tree or 49mm forks. I will probably get the Jammer fork gaitors, that will bulk up the look of the tubes. If I tint the bottom half of my windshield I don't think the tins would even be missed. BTW if anybody out there has been removing 49mm forks, they are almost never sold on eBay and command $500 a set or more. Dealer price is $700 a set and not as available as they will tell you. The big secret is that BKRider sells 49mm forks individually for $90 each. These are fully assembled. You just supply the fork lowers and seal. 3 different sizes: FXDWG -2 inches (fits FXD), FXDWG, and FXDWG +2 inches.

This is interesting. I just got my 2010 Road King rear fender back, after having the holes filled, and did a test fit between the struts. On a 2008 Street Bob, it fit just like the Dyna fender I took off. Not only no grinding or spreading, I will have to reuse the fender spacer from the front mounting holes!

Hey everyone. New member here. I am also a Dyna owner who has converted my front end. I actually did it 3 years ago without all of the great info here! I have a 2002 FXDX and if I remember correctly I used a 2005 FLST front end. I ended up chopping the FLST lower tree stops off as well as the center stop on the Dyna fame head tube. Before assembly I switched all the tins to HD Gloss Black and installing 2" lowering springs from White Brothers. I also went with a 21" DNA 80 spoke billet wheel that dropped right in other than needing spacers for the caliper. Finished it off with a FXST fender that just needed slight manipulation to work. All in all it was pretty straight forward and came out perfect. Most people would never even look twice at my bike thinking it wasn't something that came right from the MoCo.
So now I am looking to go with a touring rear fender and was wondering if anyone would recommend the best year/model to look for to fit my 02 with 150 rear tire. I measured the fender in there now and it looks to be 7-5/8" wide give or take...

Got the rear fender on. 2008 Street Bob, 2010 Road King fender. No modifications to the struts and the fender slid right in. I love the look of that Road King wheel laced to the Dyna hub. That 180 touring tire should last about 100k on a Dyna!

Rear fender looks good ...
Was thinking about your post below ...
You could try mounting the upper tins on the light bar attachment points ... that should work if you wanted to shroud the space behind the headlight ....
Then, maybe just go with fork boots on the upper slider ... would probably give a pretty good look ... just a thought ....

soupknatzee:
Any 2008 and older FLH fender should fit between the struts of a 2005 and older Dyna.

There are a few people in this social group whose compliments and advise really carry weight. You are one of them. Thanks.

t-sport, did you remove the stem for powder coating the triple trees? I've started to remove my stem but it's not coming out. I took the snap ring off the bottom of the stem but it's real tight!

I just had some powder coating done. The powder coater will tape off the stem. The stem is pressed in and is not worth removing. Good luck...........
