I bought mine brand new in '07 and it came with the black speedo. Some of the research I've recently done indicates ECM contains mileage and speedo won't have to be calibrated at shop. Sound legit?

Starting in 2009, the fuel tank level sending unit was changed slightly to deal with the new "Miles Remaining" function that came in the 2009 speedometer. If you don't change the sending unit, the miles remaining works, but it is not quite correct. My 4 inch speedometer is a 2009 on my 2008 so I dealt with this a few years ago.

Mars - there is no Brembo caliper for those legs. Softails all use the same calipers as Dynas, just different colors. Did you read my earlier post about why there is 1/8" of misalignment between the rotor and caliper? I have been through what you are attempting.

Fitch, that's the same bracket I am currently using, only in black. How much of a different location is the mount on the 7" bucket compared to the 5-3/4" bucket. My light sits about 5" back from the nose of the wing and about an inch of space between the top of the light and the wing. I am thinking I might need one that pushes out to about 2" and drops 7/16".

From the center of the mounting bolt to the front of the lens is about 5". I don't have my old bucket for reference. Arlen ness makes a block that pushes you out 2 1/2". I'd get the bucket and see if your existing block works or what size you need. They make different trim rings to get the front of the light where you want it as well.

AFM - Yeah, I read it. And I ignored it since I already got my parts...I didn't want to believe that I got the wrong ones; especially after asking "What do I need" multiple times.
Turns out...the caliper fit! I was just being dumb. And everything else fit.
The nut was the biggest problem, but we solved that with a can-do attitude.

I had to do same thing with top bolt but I used the one from dyna so I could cover it with chrome cap . looks good what did you have to do to make it fit ?

Thats the same one....ish....I got a longer one from Ace so I could have the extra confidence of a few more threads....I'll throw the cap on after a few days when I'm convinced they're gonna stay lined up. Just being precautionary.
I need to take my top tree off and adjust the pinch nut...I have something rattling when I go over bumps. I'm pretty sure its that because I ground the frame fork stop down after I put the trees on and didn't tighten the nut.
I really didn't do anything to it. Apparently my legs weren't lined up or something when I did the mock-up last week. I had to buy the top and bottom nuts for the top tree. Other than that; it all fit. Because of my bottom tree I had to grind a notch out of the bottom of the old fork stop.
I've gone about 30 miles on the new front end; and I'm stuck out of town at the in-laws this weekend....but I didn't bring my pills so hopefully I can go home early and work on it and get some riding in this weekend.

Mars I had to grind some metal off my fork stop as well, but I did try my old trees and it still worked so no permanent damage, I tightened my tree top nut to 80foot lbs and helped with the knocking in front end, look in the manual for the Fall away test to get front end just right

Got the front end right.
Now getting some slight side-to-side sway between 30-50. Might be my brain, might be me not used to the thicker tire, might be the wind....or it might be something else. :P
