How much different is the width, center leg to center leg on the softail trees compared to the Fat Bob trees? I am just wondering how much work it would take to tweak (shave, trim or whatever) a nacelle (softail or touring) to fit around the Fat Bob trees. It mostly comes down to how the legs center in the nacelle legs opening. If I could get a crapy nacelle really cheap, I would atempt this to see if it's doable. If the trees are maybe a 1/4" or less center to center then I don't think it would be that noticable to the average eye. Making a mount wouldn't be that hard I think.

Here is info that I know of, the fatboy style tins is 11 inches across on the top tree and 12 inches across the bottom tree, tins mounting points from top tree to bottom tree is 7 1/2 inches, the FLH and Roadking nacelle is 6 1/2 inches from top tree to bottom tree mounting points

Here is another choice for 49mm forks. I have never seen anyone mention them on the forums before. Made in France of all places.

Those are interesting, but I like the full nacelle look. I believe the Switchback has 49mm forks, wonder how much it would take to make that nacelle work with what I have.

Switchbacks have 41mm fork tubes, and the trees are more like the softails in dimensions

Crazy
New guy here. I guess if I have a question I just post it here instead of starting a new thread?
So I'm in the middle of converting my 2007 Street Bob to an FL front end. I've got a late model heritage front end that I'm using. I've got the triple clamp and bearings all taken care of, then I put in the fork tubes.
I've noticed that the measurement from the top of the triple clamp to the middle of the axle is about 1" shorter than it was with the stock fork. Have other people found this to be the case, and is it a problem?
Thanks in advance.

Crazy--there's some discussion on or around page 6 of this group that may help you. I went the easy way and changed to Fat Bob tree's for now.....Maybe next year the full front end conversion.

I used stock length Twin Cam era FLSTC fork tubes. Measuring from the
bottom
of the trees to the center of the axle produced the same measurements as the stock Street Bob tubes. I am also using standard length cow bells.
