RE: Attn. N. WI riders
I would Google the two cities, look at their chamber of commerce sites and general info about the area. Make some calls and see what is there. It is a nice time to be up there. Have only been camping in Hayward and driven through. Actually stayed in Eau Claire as we were working in Chippewa Falls (CF). Don't forget, CF has the Leinenkugel brewery............which means BREWERY TOURS!!!!!!!!!!

Tommy,
I can't think of a better place to recommend than Garmisch's on Lake Namakagon. It's about a half-hour from Hayward, has an awesome restaurant, bar, friendly staff, and the best views in all of the north woods. It's a bit pricey when compared to a simple motel but it's right in line with most lodging in the area. Not sure what kind of night life you're looking for but that whole region of the state is pretty quiet when you get right down to it. There are several bars on the lake and many more on the surrounding lakes. Of course, there's always Hayward too.
Check it out here: http://www.garmischresort.com/
I've stayed there many times and have never been disappointed.

Not muchfor Hotels with bars in Rice Lake. In Hayward, I believethere is aCountry Inn&Suites that has a pretty decent bar/restaurant, whichseems to fill up later in the evening. There is also a good strip joint, called Phipps, that is just outside of town. The closest Hotel(2mi) toPhipps would be the AmericInn,which doesn't have a bar, but there are a couple very close by. Or like Solorider suggested there are a ton of resorts in the area that have bar/restaurants. When we used to snowmobilenear Hayward we stayed at Lakewood's Resort just outside of Cable.Nice place with an active bar. We have hadmany fun nightsin that place!(It has been a few years sincewe have been there, so I am not sure if it has changed)Their website is:
www.lakewoodsresort.comIf you like to gamble there is the LCO Casino and Hotel that is about 7mi outside of Hayward. The original Famous Daves is also nearby, if you like good barbecued food. If it were me, I would head to the Hayward area. More to do, better food and nicer places to stay. Good luck and have a great trip this summer!
