Default Trip around Lake Michigan

We are doing a trip around the lake over Labor Day weekend (4 days), leaving the Chicago area and going along the Michigan side, making stops in Traverse City, Mackinaw City, Munising, Marquette, and Copper Harbor in the UP. I'm looking for places we should stop at and roads we should travel on just in the UP. Also looking for a nice place to sleep. Thanks for any input.

All of the above are great suggestions. One thing to remember is that when you go into a Michigan State Park, they will allow you to get in at no charge but they charge you a pasport fee of $8.00 per bike per day to get your out of state bike on the grounds. I tried to tell the gal that my bike was not a foreign model, that it was made just down the Lake Michigan coast line in Milwaukee, but she saw absolutely NO humor in my remark. If you make it close to Ludington, MI, stop at a little shop called Jones' Ice Cream and try the roasted coconut, it's the only place that you can get it. Keep it upright and level. Have a great ride.

Check out Da Yoopers tourist trap. It's kinda neat. Don't go too far out of your way though. Just a fun little stop if you have time.
