Default Route around Lake Michigan

Anyone have a good route around Lake Michigan from Milwaukee northwards. I'm looking for good scenic roads.

Thanks!

Follow the great lakes circle tour. the roads are marked, they are the closest to the lakes, and there is a different tour for each of the lakes.

Out of Sheboygan, go up on Route LS. This will take you along the lake to Manitowoc. go through the city and hug the lake to Two Rivers then take 42 up to Kewanuee. From there you'll have to take Rt 29 over to Green Bay. Take 141 out of Green bay, then 41 to stay along the lake. It's a great ride, done it a few times. I prefer the western Michagan side. More Senic and lots of little towns to stop at.

Take US-2 across the UP, and hit the Old Mission and Leelanau Peninsulas around the Traverse City area. Also, as you work your way south, make sure to go through towns like Leland, Glen Arbor, Frankfort, Onekema...some of the most beautiful land you will find in the midwest!

I would recommend looking into the Lake Express or the SS Badger to avoid the Chicago / Gary traffic. I live in Chicago and am looking at a trip around the lake this summer myself. Basically there is NO good way to get around the bottom of the Lake. There is construction on 80-94 that is supposed to last a few years. I have been through there in my cage in the middle of the night and sat for 20 mins before. Best of luck.

The Lake Express is good, but it only has room for about 8 bikes. They supply tie downs, but you might want to bring a couple of "good" ones IMO
