Default Illinois Pols are at it again! Helmet Laws

We in Illinois are 1 of 4 states that are completely free of helmet laws, but some politicians don't like that & rather than clean up our corrupt political system, they would like to pass a helmet law.
In the Illinois Senate: SB1351, sponsored by Sen. Donne E. Trotter,
In the House: HB0925 sponsored by Rep. Karen A. Yarbrough
Call/write your reps.
The only folks that are against this are those who ride, those who don’t,
at best have a neutral opinion. Therefore it is an easy bill to pass with a low percentage of citizens objecting.

Unless some other states have dropped their helmet laws recently, there are only two completely free states; Illinois and Iowa. Colorado passed a helmet law for minors a year or two ago.
Interesting how eager people are to eliminate the freedom of others.

There are several petitions you can sign and ABATE is already up to speed on the matter. I have already made calls to my local politicians and encourage everybody else to do the same. With all the problems Illinois is having you would think they would have more pressing issues to deal with than helmet laws. Maybe they can take some of this B.S. 23 cent gas tax they are wanting to pass and spend it on roads and education for riders and drivers.

Donne Trotter is a motorcycle rider and the senate majority whip. Senate president John Cullerton had to have put him up to it as he did in 2002, Cullerton is the reason ABATE of Illinois in it's current form exists. He's been in Springfield since 1979! I thought people wanted change??? Yarborough represents a depressed, ghetto area district and is trying to make a name for herself. She was campaign manager a year ago for chicago alderman Ed Smith's bid for a higher office, I did everything I could do for the competition. Call Donne's office and express your opposition, a part of Lake Shore Drive runs through his district. I can't be the one to do it this year, ABATE day is this Wednesday and I have the primary the day before so someone else has to step up to the plate for a change.

Call your state senators and remind them that you vote. Only 1/2 a year for some and 2 1/2 years for others is the time for primary season. The Illinois Board of Elections will have downloadable forms for petitions to get you or another on a ballot & most incumbents haven't been challenged in a long time. Time to remind them!

Our state senate is in the process of trying to pass a helmet law (42nd attempt). This will effect not only Illinois residents but anyone traveling thru Illinois. Please feel free to call even if not a resident and voice your displeasure.

Illinois Senate Bill 1351 (http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/bill...3&SessionID=76 )
Please look up the number to your rep's office (http://www.elections.state.il.us/Dis...earchType.aspx) and call. Leave a message that you request he/she votes against it.
