Default Beware- Progressive 422 eBay Listing

Just proving that when it comes to buying online, one needs to do a bit of research...

This listing http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=180493807492

seemed a little too good to be true and after chatting with a Progressive representative, it turns out it WAS.

If you read the listing carefully, it's says that they listed shocks are "similar" to Progressive's 422. This peaked my interest and gave the listed part # to the Progressive rep. Turns out they WILL fit a 2000 and up Softail, but they are only adjustable from a preload point of view. The ride height is NOT adjustable.

Just thought I'd put this out there for guys looking for a deal on these usually pricey shocks. Be a real bitc* to plunk down the $ on these and find out that they're not what you thought they were...

I was wondering what the "pull" meant. I didn't see that on the other 422's

Some people have no conscience. It looks like they've already stuck it to a few unlucky people.

Default shocks

there are always people like this who are trying to get over but in the end it will come back to bite them. epically when a member like yourself alerts the forum. right there alone it will hurt his business things get around here fast. Its great that we can get on the forum ask a few questions and go about our business with some confidence.

I just sent them a question asking how they are similar to 422's. Let's see how he answers that other than responding that they are both chrome, have a spring, and are made by Progressive.

I actually told him what Progressive said- that the shocks on the listing do NOT have ride height adjustment and he said that they do.
I asked "why then are they HALF the price of what they usually list for?"... havent gotten an answer yet.

a buddy i used to work/ride with was into paintball guns, there were dozens of listings for a normally $1000 gun for $100 on ebay...we went over the listing, reading it several times because it seemed too good to be true.then noticed the disclaimer,it was for a brochure on the gun..he sent a complaint into them and al the adds were taken down but it ran a few weeks first

Yep... the internet is a great thing, but there are dangers/scammers out there.
I'd rather pay a little more and be sure that I'm getting exactly what I need and am expecting.
