Default Bad Information

I wanted to vent my frustration and thought some of you could relate to this.
When i bought my 07 softail standard I tapped my budget a little, so like most of you, I am adding as I can afford it. I wanted a chrome outer primary cover. My salesman told me to get it at the 1000 mile maintenance ( I bought the maintenance package) as when the fluids are drained they could put on the new primary. A few months later I called the parts department and ordered the primary. I asked the parts dept about gaskets, etc. and was told that is all part of my maintenance plan at the 1000 maintenance they will just put on the new primary instead of the old one. WELL!!!! I called to make the appt. to get the 1000 maintenance and have the primary put on and the service Dept. tells me I was "misinformed" by the salesman and the parts department. He says they have to charge me $80.00 to put on the outer primary cover. Plus he has to charge me for a new set of gaskets. My budget is shot down the sh-tter again. I wish these jokers could get their stories strait...

I'm sorry you were misled. However the primary cover does not get removed during a fluid change. Had you known this I suppose you would have known the parts guy was full of hooey.

I remember the days when you could go into a parts department and the parts man knew what I wanted. Now, when you go into a parts place the "parts people" only know how to look up a part on their computer and if you need a gasket or other part to finish the job, they wouldn't know. Sad...

Instead of paying the shop labor, buy a manual. As long as you can read and own basic hand tools this stuff isn't tough. The best $60 you'll spend other than that time in Vegas.....
