looking at a few bikes in the 17-19K range, What is the markup and what can a person expect to pay? They all seem to use MSRP + and vary greatly from dealer to dealer. Thanks, TJ

It seems to me that MSRP is the best deal you're going to get so look around for a dealer that will give you that. Check out Stealer-Dealer and that'll give you some extra info about the local dealers. Different dealers are going to be different just look around and talk to some people. Go with a dealer you feel comfortable establishing a relationship with because those are the people that will really take care of you in the end.

Stones is telling you right. Since I don't know when... prices were in excess of MSRP and within the past couple of year leveled off at MSPR.

I too, totally agree with 12stones. The most important is that you are really happy and comfortable with the dealer you select because you will spend a lot of time there. When it comes to the big twins they are most all between 17k and 21k.
You can get good deals on used ones and there are a lot of em' out there. A whole butt load of people buy new harleys and then don't ride or realize that they didn't really want to spend that much money.

Skywagon, this has been asked before, so I hope I'm not repeating myself, but price isn't everything. Ask the dealer for free oil changes or to install the upgrades for free. They can't always move on the price, but you will be suprised at what they will give up. Just remember your older brothers advise on girls when you were a kid - if you don't ask, you don't get.

I recently bought an 05 Deuce and had no problem finding many dealers willing to sell at MSRP. It made me think that I could possibly even get it below MSRP. But I wanted to buy from my local dealer and MSRP was his best price so that was fine with me. Definitly don't pay more than MSRP.

Ditto's to what everyone else said. You may be able to get some chrome thrown into the deal as well. Perhaps a discount on future parts...

Hey Edgar, you got me a little curious. How many people does it take to make a butt load?
