1991 FLHTC - Will Start In Gear?
This I am not used to. On my metric I usually fire it up before I get on to let it warm up and go through the high idle process before riding. Plus it has the 2 safeties built in. (Kickstand switch and clutch lever switch). But on this bike, it's a totally different animal. Twice now out of habit I have actually hit the starter while its on the stand. Bike lunges forward a bit and thank god it didn't start. Are there any oem or aftermarket safeties i can install to help make this issue go away? Thoughts and suggestions please! Thanks!

You have been relying on safety switches too long, and you have developed a bad habit of starting the bike.
Just develop the habit of ensuring the bike is in neutral before pressing the start button.
There is no reason you need to start the bike until you sit on the bike.
Sit on the bike, pull in the clutch lever and then hit the button.
Don`t rely on a safety switch.
You asked for suggestions...
