Question Oil in the breather intake and filter

I recently replaced the stock breather on my 08 Ultra Classic wit a HD free breather style. It now has 3000 miles on it since the replacement. I dismantled the breather intake to add the throttle body cover plate. I noticed a lot of oil in the filter, the throttle body, the air filter base mounting bolts, and on the inside of the filter cover plate.

The bike runs great. Good increase in throttle response, rpm climb, and a noticeable increase in power. Mufflers were not replace or the header pipes. Only the air intake. The bike ran flawlessly for the 3000 mile trip and continues to do so. It is just the oil accumulation that bothers me.

Does anyone have suggestions as to what is causing the oil blow back issue?

Sure would appreciate any comments/suggestions/ideas.

Thanks to all for your help,

Hawkman

Standard symptom of too much oil in the crankcase. Check your manual. Check your oil level. Make sure you understand the markings on the dip stick. There's one for on the stand, one for sitting level. Oil level is check with the dip stick screwed in.

You could install a catch can set up. I think DK sells em.

Many threads on this. Seems to be the way it is. For me, oil level does not matter.

You could try using something like the discrete breather system. It allows you to vent everything out into the atmosphere while also not having an oily mess on your hands.

Click HERE to read more information on it.

Here is a picture of how easily the filter can be hidden.

Noticed just yesterday a small amount of oil build up in the air filter on my 2008 Ultra Classic ... and the oil level was fine. My guess is a seal/gasket is seeping oil somewhere close.

Run your oil level in the bottom half of your dip stick. I like mine to show around the 1/3 - 1/4 mark
