Default alarm question

This just started yesterday. When I turn the ignition on the my alarm flashes for and will not let the bike start and seems to take a bout 10 to 15 seconds before it quits flashing then the bike starts. Is there something wrong with the alarm or does this possibly mean my fob battery is getting weak?

I'm sorry, I don't have an answer to your question. But I was thinking about getting an alarm for the bike I'm about to order. I was wondering: do you need to still put the key in? Or do you just hop on the bike and turn it on with the fob in your pocket?

The bike will not start unless the key fob is about 10 feet away or less. So yes you can jump on and go.

I've made the mistake of leaving my fob in the house and then moving the bike, which will set the alarm off. You won't do that too many times. At least I know it works.

I have a 2014 CVO Breakout and would like to disarm the security system completely. When I leave the key fob in a small leather bag on the front forks, the bike thinks it's more than 10 feet because the signal doesn't get through the leather and the security system goes off. A total pain. I liked the way my 2012 Fatboy without security worked better. I don't like to keep the fob in my pocket. Any suggestions?

I don't have a suggestion for you, but your post does raise a question for me. Rhadgast, in post #2 basically asked if the security FOB takes precedence over the key. Hurricane19, in post #4, indicates that it does. That is not the way things work on older scooters.

If that is the way security works on new scooters, does that mean that if someone leaves their FOB near their scooter it can be started by anyone? If I wanted to get around carrying the FOB, I might try putting it in the headlight shell, but not if that means a key isn't needed? Maybe I do have a suggestion?

The CVO Breakout comes with a key, but it's only use is to lock/unlock the steering. There is no ignition lock. If you leave your fob with the bike anyone can start it.
