I have a brand new battery and the connections are nice and snug. With the key is in the ignition the dash lights and headlights come on and with the kill switch in the run position I go to start it and it gives me about a half crank then just shuts off. Gas tank is full. Any suggestions?

 

Is the new battery fully charged?

 

What shuts off the starter, or the lights, or both? If it's just the starter sounds like a bad ground.

everything shuts off. its like the battery just loses all power. if i hold the start button down after it shuts off it makes a quick pace loud ticking sound

 

Battery needs a charge or you could take it back to where you go it and ask them to charge it or replace it.
