Default RE: Counter Steering on a Harley?

Hi from the UK. I was really interested to try counter steering so I did it yesterday. ....and yes it really works, contrary to what you would expect.
Now, what i am puzzled about is the point at which 'ordinary' low speed steering stops and the gyroscopic counter steering thing takes over. It is at about 20mph it seems, but has anyone found the exact point at which it does it? It must be a sudden transition because the two methods are so different. Or am I talking ***??!!
I also find it amazing that most bikers steer instinctively without ever having been taught how.

The point at which countersteering become effective depends on the bike with factors such as rake, wheelbase, height, wheel size, and weight, and probably rider weight. It is the most effective way to quickly steer around an object. I agree with gramhampr in that its amazing how natural this method is.
