Cut and Hinge Rear Fender

Cut and Hinge Rear Fender
I'm looking to cut and hinge a Wernimont Long Shot rear fender. Any tips/advice to avoid re-inventing the process would be most welcome. Thanks in advance.
A few days later and no replies. I'll toss it over to the self help section and see if I can get a bite.

I would use 1 small hinge in the center of the fender (from side to side). If you use more the one hinge they will need the hinge pins to be on the same line of the same plane or it will were the hinges out quickly and in some cases the hinges might not even open. I would cut a strip of some flat sheetmetal (16 or 14 ga.) about 5/8" x the distance the fender is side to side over the top. Take the metal you just cut and shape it to fit on the under side of the fender along the cut line. Weld it half under the staionary side on the fender to give the hinged half some support wile closed. The hinge will work best with the hinge pin on the outside of the fender. I would also think of a way to fasten the fender in closed possition so it dosen't flop around, like a nut and bolt on either side nere the edges. That is probably the most basic way I can think of, of corse it can be made more complicated to hide the hinge and so on. Hope this helps.
