been awhile since your post but if you haven't made up your mind already I may be able to help. First off I ride w/o a windshield in all but the coldest weather (I live in florida so i don't use it much). I have a bit of arthritis in my neck these days so the "wind on my face" thing is gettin harder. I have tried all kinds of half-helmets always thinking the smaller-the-better, but around 60 mph I feel like my head is gonna rip off and the wind noise is ridiculous. Without a helmet I can go 80 all day no problem. Somebody told me a properly fit 3/4 doesn't do that...man was he ever right!
Maybe I just got lucky but I bought a Fulmer v2, weighs under 2 lbs and through some loop-hole in the laws of physics it barely feels like its there . I wasn't even concerned about the noise but what a bonus! zero wind noise and a nice muffling of other sounds.

The wind bothers your ears regardless of the helmet. I run 1/2 around town and 3/4 on road trips. I use earplugs for the road trips to keep the wind out of my ears. You wont know how much your ears are irritated until the next day trust me on that one.

Totally agree. I just learned that my self last weekend when I took a road trip to Milwaukee to visit the HD museum. My ears a still a bit sensitive and it's been a week. I had no idea the wind noise would do that to my ears. Definitely putting in ear plugs for the next road trip. Don't really need it for the short blast all around town.

I rode my first seven years with XL HJC full face helmets. 2 different ones. When I took my wife to get fitted at somewhere where they knew what they are doing, I realized I have been wearing the wrong size. I just bought a large HJC CL15, and it is amazing how much quieter, my pipes and windnoise is with a properly fitted full-face helmet. The CL15 is discontinued but I liked it better than the CL16.
