Default Opinions on chrome polish/ cleaner

Hey guys,

Was wondering what you have to found to remove small scratches in your chrome. I see H.D. sells a chrome and metal polish. What do you prefer to use?

Hey Bannana Boat,
The best polish I have used so far is "Excites" Pure metal polish.
Visit their web site at www.excites.cc. Best wax for paint so far is Maguires "NXT" Generation- wow this stuff rocks!

Banana Boat,

I have to agree with Yahmon whole heartedly on the Meguires NXT. I have never used the "Excites" product, however I have had tremendous success with Blue Coral Metal Polish.

Deep scratches are not going to come out unfortunately, however, I'm sure either of these products will serve you well.

So many different chrome polishes and cleaners.Anything that has H.D.'s name on it is probably some real good stuff but real expensive as well when you compare quantity on what you get for your money compared to another brand name such as Meguiars and Mothers.I have a 1200 xlc /black with a ton of chrome and all I ever use is the meguiars liquid chrome polish along with the meguiars wax for clearcoats and the Meguiars detail mist spray in between.I ride alot and the bike always stays real clean and holds up well to stones and **** that you kick up on the road.

Thanks for the info. fellers. Think I'm changing brands.I'm guessing these repell water a bit? Mine does a good job removing any rust and dirt but doesn't seem to repell water much at all.[sm=smiley16.gif]

I work in the car chemical cleaning industry (we manufacturer) selling both soaps/waxes/protectants to car washes, car dealerships and detail shops. I asked one of our field guys who's been in the detailing industry for 20+ years what's the best detailing products out there for consumers. He states Meguiars bar none. We don't work for Meguiars but don't sell to end consumers either.

HD doesn't manufacturer their stuff it's OEM'd from someone. Throw HD on the label and mark it up (way up). It's probably made by Zep, Blue Coral/Ecolab (ok, not this company I work here), Turtle Wax or some localized blender. I know I won't be paying up the toosh for some HD labeled cleaning/polishing products... probably use our own stuff or Meguiars per his recommendations...

Most of our auto parts houses out here in West Texas have a full range of McGuires products. I haven't tried the wax mentioned but I believe their spray quick detailer is the best I've tried.
