Replacing the new heated hand grips FLHTK
I want to replace the new grips on my 2011 FLHTK with a nicer looking grip. Does anyone know....is this just a plugin replacement or do I have to rewire the cables in the handlebars. Harley dealership doesn't know, they've never done a new one. I just don't want to start and get into a mess, as I've been reading in this forum.
Thanks

keeping my grips
I contemplated changing heated grips on my 2011 FLHTK, but after speaking with my dealer I decided to keep the stock grips for a couple of reasons.
1. The stock grips on mine do a great job. I rode for 2 hours in 15 degree weather at highway speeds and had no problems!
2. My dealer told me that the nicer looking heated grips (flames, skull, etc...) lose a lot of their heating capability because there is less rubber for the heat to transfer through. It seemed to make sense, so I just dressed everything else up, chrome switch housings, chrome clutch and brake m/c, chrome levers. Left the black switches which looks great with the stock grips IMO.
BTW....they did tell me that it is a pretty easy change when and if I ever do want to change them.
