Default Gas cap stuck

I just inherited my brothers 1994 Harley Softail, the left gas cap which I assume is the vent cap is stuck, I have tried everything to get it off so I can clean out the tank..... Any tricks or suggestions????
Thanks
Ric

Remove the fuel petcock from the bottom of the left tank. This should create less pressure on the cap. If all else fails, remove the tank and turn upside down to spray Kroil or WD-40 and let it sit. Then, give the cap removal another try.

Try turning it the other way, some are left handed threads.

There is no vent in the left side, it is on the low side when fueling, it would leak. Some of them dont come off (normally), they are decorative or contain the gauge, but I don't remember which models. Service manual will tell you.

The left tank cap should turn clock wise to be removed. Easy mistake to make. Did you give this a shot yet?
