Default Iron head reliability ?

Any advice on buying an 84 sportser? ... do the old harleys have as many problems as people say they do ? Any body ever use one of these bikes as there daily rider ?

A graybeard who owned an indy repair shop told me that he owned an 81' and did not have any issues. The 84 'is after the motor co. regained ownership, post AMF.

I have owned several Sportsters, old and new, never had any serious issues.

Unless you're getting it REAL cheap-I'd go for the Evo Sporty. Irons & shovels just did not have the technology to be as reliable as the later ones.
