Default Stupid Question on T-bags

This might sound like a really stupid question, but I'm looking into getting a T-bag for my 04' Softail Std. On there website it says luggage rack required, but then it also says tha tteh bag can rest on the poassenger seat, which is the way I prefer to mount it. If I mount the bag on the passenger seat, do I still need a luggage rack, or can I get away with out one. Also, if I do need a rack, I guess for securing it, what is a relatively inexpensive rack that mounts to Harley's medium sissy bar? Most of the ones I see mount on the fener, then I seen one to mount on the tall sissy bar. Also any feedback on T-bags in general will be very much appreciated. Again, sorry about the stupid question, I'm new to the Harley scene, thanks for all your help.

You only need a rack it you're putting it behing the seat. On the seat, no rack needed. BTW: I just got a Super-T and love it! Carried enough for me and the wife for 4 days. Even took 2 cameras and my laptop computer!

i have t-bags for my fatboy.and you must have a backrest to mount on seat.on the back of them there is two slots which zip on both side to fit either a small to large backrest pad.i also have a luggage rack for when i,m riding a passenger for my t-bags.i recommend them, they are very good products.i paid 150.00 w/tax for my t-bags

Riding solo, it is great on passenger seat. Nice backrest to lean back on.

If you have a passenger, will need a rack.

T-Bags are great, If your riding solo you can set it on the seat, great back rest, no rack needed. I have 2 of them, one is left over from my old dyna, had to buy a new one for my heritage cuz the pocket for the back rest was to small. I use them both, set on on the seat and one on the rack. Has stopped a lot of "discussions" between my wife and I about her bringing to much stuff, I hand her one and say fill it up, and the second ones mine for my stuff. They are not water proof, just water resistant. What I do is take a tall kitchen garbage bag and put it inside the t-bag and put my clothes, etc. in the garbage bag. If you run into rain nothing gets wet. They do sell water proof liners but I'm cheap, wait lets just call it "cost effective".
Just make sure you have the duffel bag they give you for the top strapped down tight. I thought I did but it squirted out the side when I was going down the highway at 60 mph and skidded down the road, just scuffed it a little, pretty tough material. Now I just run a small zip tie through the handle of the t-bag and the duffel just in case it works loose. In addition it just happened that it fell off as I was passing the nuclear power plant in Kewaunee, WI when it fell off, not realizing where I was I pulled over and ran back down the road to pick it up b/4 a car ran it over and when I got to it, bent over and picked it up, stood back up and there was a cop pulled off in front of me geting out of his car, looked around and there were about 6 security vehicles heading my way too. They don't take someone running down the side of the road with a duffel bag, in front of a nuclear plant ever since 9/11 to lightly, or so I was told during my questioning from the officers!
