Default Handle Bars

My arms are stretched out, no bend in elbows. Can I loosen up the bracket and pull the bars in? Or should I be stretched out. Kind of uncomfortable. This is my first Harley, 04 Heritage softail.

It's your bike, you can do anything you want to it. Including adjusting the handlebars. Make it your own!

With no bends in your elbow's your hands will more than likely fall asleep. I was having that problem until I changed my bars. Found that with a little bend in the elbows I can ride a lot longer. I have heard other members on this site have noticed that too. I actually used the throttle lock on the freeway and moved my hands around a bit (above the grips, etc.) to get a idea of how my new bars should be compared to stock. The difference is amazing. The reach bars I installed are 1.5 up and 1.5 back. That bit of difference made it all better. Try loosening the clamps and rotating back, depending of the bends and such it may be all you need. Of course now you may need to rotate your lever's and switches. Are your bar's stock? Seem kinda tall. Happy riding!!!

if you do adjust your bars remember to swing the front tire left and right to make sure you have some clearance between the bars and the tank at its full range so you don't mark or dent your tank. be sure to allow some space because you sure wouldn't want to screw up your tank.
