Default Painting Saddlebags

I need to get a set of hard saddlebags painted. How much should I be looking to pay? I want to make sure I dont get ripped off since I have no idea. And if you know a good painter in the Philadelphia area, feel free to let me know who! Thanks

You can get an Earl Scheib job or high quality job. Also, is the paint a single stage (base coat/clear coat) or tri-coat (base coat/tint coat/clear)? Who is disassembling/reassembling the bags?

Is the painter going to sand the bags before painting? Is he going to primer the bags? After primer, is he going to use a sealer before applying paint? After paint, is he going to block sand and buff the bags?

Ask around at the HD store for guys who have had paint work done and check the work and prices.

I just had my '04 EG repainted and the above are the kinds of questions/decisions involved.

Good luck with your project.

These guys seem to offer email quotes:

If you get a quote from them I'd appreciate a PM with the results including your overall opinions of the company - I don't get in this sections of the forums much.

Default .....

I know I wouldn't paint a set of HD bags for less than about $600, even that would depend on the condition of the bags, who's doing tear down & re-assembly, what the color codes were, etc. On the high end, maybe $900 or so....

ill agree with bdsbigzrx.... simple black with clear maybe a bit cheaper...

but also, do you want them colorsanded and buffed flat? that will add a lot of cost as well not only in labor but in an extra coat of clear or 2
