Default Internal throttle issue

Hey everyone, I just installed a internal throttle on my wifes sporty with dual cam rollers. Well the outer sleeve that the grip is supposed to slide over has two open spirals that the cams ride in. The action on the throttle is fantastic and fast, when I slide the aftermarket grip on the stock plastic sleeve and slide the whole 9 yards over the throttle there is play and the plastic sleeve just spins and does'nt catch the throttle. I took the left grip and slide it on and it was nice and snug but the action was really tight rollin back and on the return like the grip was riding on the cams. Like I said with no grip on, the internal throttles action is smooth and quick. Any help would be appreciated before my wife decides to hang my junk from the nearest tree.
Thanx in advance, EddieWay
