Probably the easiest thing you will ever do to a Harley. Don't let the 08 throttle by wire scare you. purchase the grips for you bike, must be for 08 dresser and later. Take out the two screws to the switch housing and seperate it. Give the Throttle grip a hard tug and it will come right off, the new one just snaps right on. You will note the plastic gear plug on the end of the handlebar that mates up inside the grip to operate the throttle by wire. For the Clutch side, just seperate the housings, pull off or cut off, if glued on from factory, put on new glue and slid your new grip into place. The 08 and later dressers with the throttle by wire and much easier than the earlier cable type systems. Nothing to it.

Stroker, glad you said something, I got looking at the grips I bought, and of course they are for 07 and earlier. So I guess I need to get some different ones. Thank you so much for the help and guidance!!!!!

You can squirt cheap carb cleaner under the clutch side grip to break loose the factory glue. Be sure to wrap a rag around the whole grip to prevent carb cleaner from backfiring out of the grip onto your tank/face.

yep, grips for 07 and earlier are differant. You need the 08 and later type. Throttle by wire is only for dressers. Others still have cables so the earlier grips will work on those bikes.
