Default Braided Steel Oil Lines

What is the best way to cut braided steel oil lines?

Side cutters?
Hacksaw?
Other?

If I remember correctly from my old installing days, you wrap them with tape first then a use a cut-off saw, you know the one's with the thin abrasive type blade. Also there are cutters specifically made to cut SS braided hoses but they are about 100 dollars, they look like bolt cutters but the cutting jaws are different But check it out with others first.
