Cleaning burned shoe sole off pipes.

Cleaning burned shoe sole off pipes.
Made the mistake of riding the Heritage into work one day this week with my black soled Rockports on instead of my riding boots. Burned a nickle sized black spot onto the pipe.
What can I use to get it off without scratching the chrome on the pipes?
Thanks,
Rick

I AGREE WITH THE OVEN CLEANER. I HAD MARKS FROM MY BOOT AND MELTED RAINGEAR. EASYOFF WORKED GOOD. ANOTHER TIP IF YOU DO GET THESE MARKS GET THEM OFF AS QUICK AS POSSIBLE. I MADE THE MISTAKE OF WAITING OVER A WEEK ON THE RAINSUIT TOOK ALOT MORE WORK AFTER IT "CURED" ON THERE. GOODLUCK.

I would be careful with the oven cleaner or easyoff. If you over spray any of the painted surfaces. wash it off immediatly, it will ruin you're paint. HD sells a product not really sure what it is called ( BOOT something ) because I too only made this mistake once a long time ago. But if you ask in parts dept they will point you right to it and it worked really good for me. Which ever way you go, just be patient and good luck. BTW make sure you alternate the arms when rubbing. you don't want to end up with one arm bigger than the other.
