I read about this recently in American Iron Magazine. \\;You can clean it off with \\;using cold \\;Easy Off Heavy Duty Cold Oven cleaner. When it is cool to the touch, spray it on and let it sit over night. Next morning rinse it \\;off.Good Luck

Most any metal polish works on a warm not hot pipe.
I have found Noxin #7 avilable at most hardware stores works the best.
Use a cotton or flannel cloth never micro fiber as it will melt and make things worse. (dont ask me how I know this).
I saw a guy use the edge of a credit card once but that appeared to leave scratches.
I read a post here recently that said oven cleaner other and caustic cleaners will instantly damage polished and anodized aluminum - not worth the risk IMO.
