Default Rain gear

I like riding in a mild warm rain and would like to get a rain suit. I'm seeing suits from $50.00-$150.00. Is there a difference between the cheaper suits and the high dollar suits at the dealer? What do you all wear? Thanks.

Of course there's a differance. You can buy a rain suit in wally world for about $12. It will last about 12 miles.

Get a 2 piece suit, heavy rubbarized material, with a melt proof material on the inside of the right leg. I've been using a H-D 2 piece for about 6 years now. It works good in rain and snow. And it keeps you warm on long trips as you layer up. On a cool spring or fall morning, I'll wear it to work, knowing that I can ride in shirtsleeves in the afternoon.

I've also heard a lot of good things about Frog Togs.

I have a "First Gear" pants and jacket setup.

They are sized to go OVER my riding leathers. The jacket is yellow as I wanted to stand out in inclement weather.

The pants have a fabric panel on the inside of the leg where there is likely to be contact with a hot surface.

Add some good GoreTex gloves and some rubber inner gloves and you are ready to ride when the ducks are staying home.

I wear the two-piece packable fro HD. Here is the link:

Just like bobcowan does, I use the jacket on cool mornings going into work. It also has some high-vis coloring, which is a plus on those early mornings.

2-piece HD, Love-em. Just afer a rain you can leave the pants on so you dont get the spray from the road

Two piece HD here too. Reflective piping, heat patches on the inside of the legs, full length velcro fasteners on both legs. Easy to get into and really helps when its a little cool.

The best suit I ever had was called an one piece “Dry-ryder” it was many years ago, rain, snow, freezing temps, it was great. I think they still are made. I don’t ride in the rain anymore, well, I wont start out in it anymore, I just wait it out if I can.

Thanks for the good advice everyone. I'm still considering. In the mean time I bought a pair of FXRG britches. Water proof. Well vented. Pricey? Yes. But the misses says they make my fanny look real nice. All kidding aside, I already have the FXRG coat and it is indeed water proof. But even though they're very well vented, in the dead heat of summer they're still hot. So I'll still get raingear. Thanks again for the tips. Dave.
