I just installed new exhaust (V&H Short Shots) and a ThunderMax Autotuner.

I just fired it back up and was going through the set-up of the tuner when I noticed a lot of smoke coming off the rear cylinder and exhaust. I can't quite see where it is coming from, but seems to mostly be coming off of the fins around the rear cylinder around the exhaust. what could be causing this? part of me wants to just let it run and see if maybe it just just burns off, but that seems like a good way to kill my bike.

any ideas?!!?

 

let it burn.

 

you probably had greasy hands and touched that part of the motor while you were installing the pipes, let it burn off it will be fine.

 

Check for a leak from the rocker box just above the exhaust port.

 

Check O2 sensor. Might be loose.

 

thanks for the help. I just let it burn off for 10 minutes. i guess it was just grease under the heat shields that billowed out and looked like it was coming off the engine. phew, scared the bejesus out of me
