I have a 99 FXST and was wanting to put a rear side mount license plate that fits on the axle. My question is do I have to swap in a longer axle to make the plate fit, or will there be enough rooms as it is. The plate I am wanting to use I found on Ebay

i think those types of mounts are designed to replace and axle spacer aren't they? meaning that they are mounted inside the swingarm between the arm and the pulley/wheel. so it needs to be the same size as what is already in there and no you wouldn't need a longer axle.

 

Did you need a longer axle or did it take place of the spacer?

I am thinking about doing the same thing. If I need a longer axle I may just use the Kuryaken one that mounts to the swingarm.

 

the kuryakn side mount brackets are very nice and not too pricee very easy too mount

 

No need for a longer axle, the side mount acted as the spacer with the groove in it!
