Default 1991 softail speedo remove

How does one remove the odometer **** from the speedometer so thatthe console with the electrical switch can be removed? Does it just pull off or is there a set screw down inside the ****?

There is a small set screw inside the ****. Get a small phillips screwdriver, a jeweler type is best, and hole the **** and unscrew. It should come out easily.

I’m having the same problem but cannot locate the set screw. I have looked for over an hour from all directions but don’t see anything that resembles a screw.

Correct, it does not come in from the side. It screws into a threaded hole on the end of the shaft.

And it is made of the softest material known to man, just looking at it will strip out the Phillips head on the screw...

Thanks to everyone who has jumped on and responded. I am still not having luck. I have attached 3 photos of the 3 locations I’m looking at to find this mystery set screw. Logic would tell me the set screw should be found on the right hand side of the bike, somewhere inline with the reset meter post. The first is a photo of the post end. I was hoping the end had a cap that could be removed, but not luck. The second photo is of the post body. Nothing that resembles a set screw there... The third photo is inside of the housing where the post attaches to the speedo. You can’t see inside due to low light but I assure you, nothing there.

thanks fellas!

Post end. Was hoping the end had a cap that was removable.

Post body. No evidence of set screw along the body.

Inside speedo housing. All I can see is a rubber grommet

That is not an OEM reset ****...

That thing is probably screwed right into the reset shaft in the speedometer.
