Default getting bike back in shape

Havent been able to ride much within the past couple of years, what recommendations for prepping bikefor many miles this year. 1996 Heritage

Change all the fluids including the brake fluid. Check all rubber for dry rot and replace, especially fuel lines and tires. Drain the gas and replace with fresh. If it doesn't run right, you may need to pull the carb apart and clean all the gunk out of it. Check spark plugs and replace if required. Check primary chain and drive belt tension. Ride it like you stole it.
