seems you can wire them internally or externally and use any grip type you want
you can get the control part in chrome.. and its an exact fit for a stock HD control setup on the left or right.. i forget side(replaces one of the clamp pieces there)

 

I have them and like them. I was the guinea pig for my riding buddies who are now getting them for their ride. The install was easy. I have internally wired bars and didn't have to drill a hole either since there is already a hole at the end of the bars because of that. They look like they are a stock piece on the bike and will work with any style grips. In the pic below, you can see what it looks like with the leds on at level 4. If you hold the button in for a few seconds, it dims down for night riding.
