Anyone with any comments on whether real or synthetic leather saddlebags are better, more durable, etc? There is a significant cost difference (real is much more), so what is the advantage? Thanks.

 

ive used River Road bags forever...Saddle bags and luggage rack luggage...resistant to UV and very waterproof.There are many different styles.I have the ones with compartments on the end of saddle bags...Ive never been able to justify 600.00 plus for bags that require so much maintainence and end up sagging.check their website

 

It's more of a personal choice now that the synthetic materials have gotten so much better. With some of the better stuff, it's hard to tell it's not leather. Cheap leather bags are not worth crap. I prefer the real thing and am willing to pay the price for quality leather and spend the time maintaining it. I have a Willie & Max T-bar bag that is at least 15 years oldand it looks like leather that has aged naturally. I just finished the bag work on my Dyna. What you see is all leather goods.
