On my 2000 FXST (bobtail rear fender) I cannot get one of the rear strut bolts out. It goes throught the license plate holder then through the fender and strut. The other side came out but this one will just spin and spin and not come out. What gives?????????

 

Look at the side that came out easy.......Does it thread into a heli coil ? or some sort of nutplate ? If so , it sounds like you may have to drill off the head of the bolt, and then drill out the rest of it VERY carefully......Then replace the heli coil, or re tap the hole etc .....I have worked on fighter jets for 30 years and this type problem happens often.....

Now another thing you can try, is if you can get a thin flat head screw driver up under the head of the bolt, and gently pry upward on it as you are looseningthe boltwith a ratchet , although this can damage your paint if you ain't careful , Sometimes this pressure will help it grab and let er thread on out......Good luck to you.
