My next oil change will be sweet. I installed the DK Customs remote oil filter and now have a OUTLAW High Performance Cleanable Permanent Oil Filter to go on at 30k miles.

No more oil dripping down the front of the engine.

I was pondering on getting that too, but the oil mess is minimal and a 10 second shot of brake kleen usually gets it all off the hoses ands stuff where it drips.

I was spending 20 minutes with the spray and rags. I have tried to work with that HD oil filter catch thingy and it was not much help.

Thanks for any suggestions.
The “proper” HD cup wrench would spin on my oil filter from the last monkey that put it on. On my Ultra I had to take off the voltage regulator and move the oil cooler off to the side then come in from the front with a strap wrench.

Strap wrench in post # 2 works from the side , no regulator removal required

As for catching the mess, aluminum foil works for me.

Yeah, easy peazy. No tools as well. Might want to use a glove because the filter will be hot.

I had to use a 3/8" breaker bar with the Harley's End Cap Oil Filter wrench to get the oil filter off after the free 1000 miles dealer service.

They got some super cheap ones with the CPK cut out, on amazon, and I am sure they are fine. I got a nice one I bought years ago, and never had an issue

I would not screw around with an adjustable of any kind

TC filter also fits mobile 1 filters for GMC trucks, but not wix.
Yea that will get the normal tight ones off, I'm talking super tight stuck, as in "welded on" like the op stated, so tight the cup slips

These 2 filter wrenches will take off 98% of oil filters no matter how hard they are stuck on they do not slip once engaged.
