Default Aftermarket Breather Bolt Backing Out

I have a breather bolt that keeps coming loose. Using Teflon tape and/or blue Loctite does not help. The hole is oily and I bet it keeps the Loctite from adhering - maybe clean and try again. But how about using a lock washer - does anyone see any issues associated with that? Can't see the spring tension from the washer causing problems with the threads in the aluminum head?

With either a split washer or raised edges, I wouldn't think it would be able to seal very well. I'd try cleaning everything up, including the breather hole threads and try some blue or 242 locktite and torquing to spec. But let it setup overnight before running the engine.

If that does not help, I'd get some new breather bolts from HD.

Alcohol and q-tips to clean the bolt holes, get them dry. Use the correct crush washers and some hylomar on the bolt threads torqued to spec.

The breather bolts are for routing blow-by to a catch can... so stock bolts wont work. I have been torquing them to spec and using pipe tape (1/2 of bolt and blue loctite)... but I will try cleaning up the bolt holes better and try the loctitie again.

The aftermarket breather bolt kits are not being sold with crush washers - not that I have seen anyway. I can see how they would help seal leakage, but not help prevent the bolt from backing out.

People forget to use this when using Loctite. Use this and your bolt will not back out.

243 loctite is much better than 242 for oil applications. All I use now (for blue)
